Alumni Generations Scholarship 2026: Merit-Based

    Alumni Generations Scholarship (Merit Based) - Fall 2026

    Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year may be submitted after January 1, 2026. No applications will be accepted after May 1, 2026.

    This scholarship is awarded each academic year to ONE eligible incoming freshman who best demonstrates how they have met and excelled in the following criteria:
    • Be the child, stepchild, grandchild or step-grandchild of an individual who graduated from Duquesne University with a degree,
    • Enrolling at Duquesne as a full-time incoming freshman for the upcoming academic year.
    Selection of award recipient will be based on individual ability to excel in the following areas:
    • Demonstration of high academic merit throughout high school (as evidenced by high school academic scores, SAT or ACT results),
    • Community service,
    • Additional academic and co-curricular recognition of achievement.

    Financial need is not a consideration for this scholarship.

    An essay is required as part of the merit scholarship selection.

    The scholarship is renewable through eight consecutive semesters as long as the student maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

    Students who are receiving a full tuition scholarship, tuition remission or tuition exchange will not be eligible for this scholarship. Please visit this link for additional Financial Aid Terms and Conditions.

    Individuals who submit a valid application for the Merit-Based Scholarship and also meet the requirements for the Need-Based Scholarship (such as having demonstrated unmet financial need for the 2027-2027 academic year) are encouraged to apply separately for the Need-Based Scholarship.

    Students are not eligible to receive both the Merit-Based and Need-Based Scholarships. Only one type of Alumni Generations Scholarship may be awarded per student.

    Applicants will be notified of their scholarship decision by July 1, 2026.

    Academics and Achievements
    Note: Your academic scores (SAT, ACT, GPA) will be provided by our committee from your Duquesne University Admissions application.
    Essay
    Please upload an essay. The essay:
    • Should describe how a Duquesne alumnus/alumna has influences you and your decision to attend Duquesne University.
    • Does not need to be written about the Duquesne alumnus/alumna you are related to.
    • Should not include the name(s) of those you are related to.
    • Must be no more than two pages.

    Relation
    You are required to provide the name and address of a parent, step-parent, grandparent or step-grandparent who graduated from Duquesne University. Additional names and relations to Duquesne alumni are optional.
